Bayern paid more than the release clause because it was cheaper for them to do so, due to tax reasons or something like that.

Yes, Bayern paid more because Thiago's clause was complicated, like Suarez's apparently is.

I want to know where Tony learned that PSG paid above a literal release clause for Cavani. Not extra agents fees etc., just a straight extra few million for no apparent reason.

£40m is enough to be taken seriously? the only reason Liverpool kicked up a fuss is because they were absolutely not going to sell to a domestic rival.

Like oftgoon says, Liverpool are not selling Suarez whether we offered £40,000,001 or £45m anyway.

That's a standardized price. Suarez's price is not yet decided by the seller or buyer. With crisps you can always walk to the next shop. You cannot buy loads of Suarez's by walking to Chelsea to buy the exact same player.

In an auction type market, and specifically the football market, there are different rules, ideals and processes. Spending 1 penny more than some supposedly genuine buy-out clause is just silly and unserious.

I don't have proof hence why I originally said "apparantly".

But neither does anyone here have proof about this Suarez clause.

We do have proof that we bid £40.000.001 which is ridiculous.
