They love his transfer policy, it turns a profit.
Since when has it been the case that Gazidis or Kroenke are more interested in building a title contending team above all else?

Not that they want to build a title chasing team, but the general lack of action and poor valuation both selling and buying including our wage structure is totally bonkers and has wasted a load of money and potential to have "built the brand" from a corporate standpoint by actually using all out revenue to push for titles. The club should have at least put in someone after Dein left as a go between in these matters and that was the plan at first as we heard it back then, once wenger got himself on that as well we just couldn't be bothered to take it away and brought in the dome to oversee commercial deals a number of years too late.

I think these players will surprise a number of people. End of last season wasn't a coincidence and we were pretty efficient against City. We play effective football now recognizing our limitations. We will be good enough till some point before lack of depth bites us.

We will again qualify with minimal investment. Don't see why the board wouldn't give him a new contract. If they were so concerned they would be pushing him to spend right now, somehow. Wenger may be responsible but he is ultimately accountable to his employers who aren't applying enough pressure it seems.

I'll give Gazidis time if the Puma deal figures are correct. He has done well to bring us a deal which is at par with the market rates, if not better. It is more than what you can say about Wenger lately.
Also give him marks for putting Wenger under public pressure early on in the window. I doubt there is much more in his power.

The responsibility lies with all of them. Perhaps Wenger is faffing about with his targets and his valuation of them but Gazidis should take it out of his hands. The latter is above the former in the hierarchy yet you get the feeling (and it's just a feeling) that if Wenger says jump, Gazidis will oblige.

Ultimately, it's beyond ridiculous how we've approached this window, and while I don't doubt Wenger is there making life difficult for Ivan, he still should have managed it a whole lot better.

how is gazidis not at fault here? he has failed in pushing out a manager whose lack of ambition is holding this club back. he has failed in acquiring our transfer targets. he is 8 yrs late to the commercial revenue party.

he has been a success only in the sense that he hasn't burned the place down. expectations are far too low. i guess that's what he's been most successful in doing - convincing the average gooner that we're skint and should be grateful to even finish 4th. even today, you hear that bullshit in pubs - it's infuriating.

Serious questions for those of you who work in managerial positions:

If you're given a certain budget for a certain project, do you ever choose not to spend all of it (let alone any of it) because you don't feel like you're getting a good price for supplies, contract work, etc.? Do you ever refrain from spending because you're worried about the financial vitality of your company?

Not a manager, but I'm yet to see a project I've worked on not go over budget.

our project is to win the title. why are we ostensibly not getting good prices for supplies/contractors when chelsea, united, city and other clubs seem to have no such issues? are we any near jeopardising the financial well-being of the club?

we have a project manager who's not even working on the project that we would assign if we were his boss. but from kroenke's perspective, he's doing great. why compete for the title? at the top end of the talent curve, your marginal return per $ spent on players shrinks dramatically, with no guarantee of winning anything, so it's safer to just stay in the CL cash cow every season and hope you go far to maximise revenue.
