I don't want us to spend the full £100m now - but we have to spend something, just to ensure the next man gets the best possible platform. I'd allow Wenger £30m, total this summer & january, forbid him from spending a penny of it in France, and keep the remainder for the next man.

He needs to sign, if nothing to shore up numbers. A new manager will start with a severe disadvantage if we don't qualify this season.

I am confident this side will start better but we need to have depth to sustain.

So because the club no longer has an interest in spending the vast amount it gets from game going fans on players we should all give up our season tickets in protest? Fuck that! Its my arsenal and everyone else's who goes to the ground, the rest of them sitting in the board room just have there go playing around with the club in an ultra conservative manner that belies what we can actually do. Their ineptitude shouldn't stop me going to games in protest (mostly because no one would notice), any more than going and deciding to go watch chelsea instead.

You don't really have a choice if the club is your passion and you want to be at games come what may but it doesn't stop you being annoyed at the lack ability shown by those who manage the club.

I've long thought that the only way that things will change is if the management are faced with vast blocks of empty seats and falling match day revenue.

I think we're already past the point of no return. Gazidis has unequivocally put the emphasis on Arsene this summer, and if it goes wrong, I don't see any way back for at least one of them. Either Gazidis or Wenger HAS to go.

Last noises out of the club were that they are talking about a new contract. I wonder if something has changed with this summer?

It's been VERY quiet on that front, hasn't it.

I'm under the impression that he won't be staying for another year, no matter what.

Its a bit of a travesty if we let him have a victory lap too. You can't go into a season with everyone knowing its his last and expect it all to work out fine.

This attitude hurts the club. It's the beginning of plasticity, hipsterism, gentrification and a deep pollution of the fan culture.

Power should reside with the fan base. You're choosing to give it all up to the suits and money men. If we perceive that we do not have a voice that counts in the running or management or activities of our own club, but still just support support support blindly and without question, we lose an essential piece of our own identity as fans.

All that is besides the point. If i give up my ticket, someone else will take it because Arsenal are a massive club with huge support. Point is ticket sales contribute to 40% of the clubs turnover. It is incumbent on the club to utilize that money towards trying to make the team successful. This isn't theatre or cinema where you can make something which may be acceptable to you and pleases a section of the crowd without regards for the section of audience which finds it rubbish. Here everyone spending on a seat want just one thing, the club to be successful. If money is being saved to augment infrastructure then fair, if it's being saved for contingency then fair but when we are covered from every angle not spending the fans' money doesn't make sense. I met someone who has a mortgage but can't stop himself from spending £1500 on a season ticket.

There can be no excuse now and the fans have been really patient. It becomes impossible to back what is indefensible after a point of time.
