Personally don't think Wenger will particularly care about all the Suarez controversy. He's long enough in the tooth to know that a players image rarely reflects their true character. I'm sure, like most good people managers, he takes individuals as he finds them.

Now the money he'd cost us, that may very well put Wenger off.

Money per game played would put most teams off too but you know with Diaby/Rosicky we're cool with it.

can't see how a man quibbling over some little change for Higuain is suddenly emboldened to spend and extra 10m on Suarez who though may be the better goal scorer comes with baggage and a lengthy ban into the new season.

You need to be abit more up to date. He cant have a 50m price tag cause he have a 40m clause.

jesus christ, why didnt we just keep van persie then? we'd have a better, infinitely more likable world class striker, and an extra 11m in the bank compared to what we'd have to spend to get suarez, and who knows, maybe we could've won a trophy of some sort this past season.

it's like wenger and gazidis just checked our account balance last month for the first time since 2005 and holy shit, there's like 100m in there.

There's still a fair point in there, but we didn't keep him because he was coming out of his contract and wrote an open letter to the fans saying we were shit after our first wage offer.

It's not like, by last summer, Van Persie wanted to stay under any circumstances—he wasn't having it.

so spend some of that extra 11m on van persie's wages, which i can't imagine would be that much higher than what we'd have to pay suarez, anyway.

van persie only wanted to leave because our transfer dealings proved we had no ambition. we could've spent a lot of this money last summer.

i've given up trying to understand management. they've thrown away 8 yrs for no good reason, and it wouldnt surprise me in the least if they found some reason to screw it up again this summer, or end up spending silly money for one of the least likable players there is.

it's almost like they're trying to get rid of me as a supporter.

Van Persie is way more media and image savvy than Suarez, but he's always been a world class prick. Only infinitely more likeable cos nobody ever wanted to dig beneath the surface.

He's certainly had plenty of personality conflicts over the years.

Kami—I said we should offer Persie £200k/w and we didn't, it's true. Maybe there's a figure that we could've pulled out that would've turned his head, but he himself claimed incessantly it "wasn't about money".

It certainly disturbs me that we seem to be contemplating a £40m bid for Suarez of all people. That's a lot of money with a lot of possible downside.

I'd be intrigued to know what a Suarez poll would look like.

Something like:
"Get him?"
Yes, it's only trophies that matter.
Yes but it turns my stomach
No, he's a douche, we're Arsenal
Duh... he'll eat someone.

(or it could be related to money: get him for 35, or 40 - yes no matter how much, yes but only if under 35, no it's expensive, hell no doesn't matter how much).

Got a feeling it's a very clear no, but I hear some voices just happy to know we're finally "aiming high".
