I thought someone as intelligent as you would see the argument, I guess not.
An individual unless they are truly special, is only as good as the team around them, and the partners next to them. Arteta with the right partner, i.e. Ramsey as the engine and the Rosicky as the high pressure, then can flourish against the best. Give them the wrong partners, then any player can be found wanting in the big games, as they can't do it by themselves, which Wilshere inevitable left Arteta to do, as he is so defensively naive.
The point being, just like Mertesacker and Koscielny compliment each so well and bring out the best qualities of each other, but when partnered with say Vermaelen, Koscielny has been found wanting and his weakness exposed. Football is not about individuals.
