Don't think he sounded lost. Made it very clear that the board was happy and that the club planned to talk to Wenger about a new deal, and that he wanted to minimise the inevitable blowback from supporters by controlling the press profile of the announcement.

Yeah, it was only if he was going to walk, but as soon as we wrapped up (or seemed to wrap up) the Puma deal I started to feel pretty sure he wouldn't. Changed landscape gives him both excuse and incentive to hang on and "prove" his methods.
Only way he can start proving anything is if he moves up a bracket in the transfer market. From £10m to £20m signings.

Even without signings, we won't start slow again.
