Kroenke/Gazidis/Wenger out!
Think I might've just found my new avvy. G'night gents
So Wenger was serious when he talked about how many times he had turned down Madrid Munich and co... whatever all has happened in the recent past, I'm glad he's been our manager.
Never doubted that he was serious, my opinion is that he would never have gone because they wouldn't allow him the laxity, free reign and lack of accountability he enjoys here and he knows that.

I don't know about Real but that article says Bayern only spoke to Wenger in 1995 and i am guessing their interest in him has died down in his in the last 10 years when other managers have caught up and surpassed him.
He also is on such a cushy number here, it is not in his interest to leave.
Think you misread it Tone:
"Even before he went to Japan (in 1995), Franz Beckenbauer and I went to Nice and discussed with him and everything was clear, but then at the end of the day he decided to go to Japan.
"We were very surprised. From Japan he went to Arsenal and over the years, whenever we were looking for a new coach, Wenger was always one we considered.

You mean his salary? I really don't think it's a factor at all. I remember reading a lengthy interview with him three or four years ago where, when asked how much he earned last year, he genuinely had no clue. He couldn't even give them a ballpark figure. He doesn't strike me as someone who's obsessed with personal wealth at all (he's also stated as much himself). And he doesn't spend much of his money anyway. He barely knows his way around north London after seventeen years in charge of the club. Think whatever you like about him as a manager but Wenger is a person whose obsession is football. He lives and breathes it. The rest is not that important to him.
I think he is well past that now. He could not finish his money even if he does not pick up any wages from now till death.
In any case, Money has not really been his main motivation as he repeatedly tells us and i believe him.
At this juncture of his career, freedom, power and job satisfaction are, imo, more important to him.
Personally I think Arsenal is the only factor that matters. It's his life's work.

I didnt miss that.
Just interpreted "considered" and "we went to see him and discussed" as "lukewarm" and "hot".
Well he was out of a job before he went to Japan (hence meeting in Nice, rather than Monaco). Different scenario.
I took that as meaning he was their top target then, (and his subsequent success with us proves they were right), rather than one of a group, as has been the case in the latter years.
Do not think they would take him now although i think he still has it in him to be a success at a club like Real.

Yeah he's an economist who doesn't care how much he earns, even though he's managed to drive it up to over £7m a year.
He's a fucking hypocrite when it comes to wages.
I think the club simply pays him that much because they really want him to stay. He's guaranteed them Champions League for, what, 15 years in a row? Willing to work with small means, never runs at a loss. It's not hard to see why they value him from a financial perspective.
He would have someone on the books negotiating his remuneration. In purely financial terms he's been worth the money, although perhaps not this season.
Nasri : "AW is the best coach i worked with, the one who understood me the most. He made me the player I am. I'm very thankful"
Nasri "During 3 years with him, I was very happy. When I left the coach and I were fine. I wish we talked more"
Nasri :"Cesc or me were supposed to leave. AW told me that if Cesc would leave, I would stay. But Kroenke wanted the money"
A French gooner just posted these quotes by Nasri on twitter, from some channel called Beinsport. Shocking if what he said about Kroenke is true
There were rumours on twitter that Wenger wanted to take Nasri to Udinese and planned on playing him in our CL qualiier, but Kroenke intervened and wouldn't allow it because of the money on offer. I have no idea if there's any truth to it, but I saw it mentioned a while ago in the Arsenal twitter world, which is why I still take it with a big pinch of salt.
But regardless of that, one particular Wenger quote from that summer stands out and it's when he says that if Arsenal sell Cesc and Nasri, Arsenal are not a big club. I know he talks a lot of BS, but why say that if he knows both will defintely be sold?
Probably the same happened with vp, wenger's silence and acceptance was bought for 7m a year.
maybe that's the way it happened but it's like trying to excuse Blair for his role in the war
Nasri is saying he was willing to stay and then leave on a free. And that Kroenke wouldn't allow that while their was a £25M offer on the table. That was pretty much the story at the time wasn't it ?
