The three best players we've had in the last 7 yrs, all of them captains, left the club because they felt that Wenger and Gazidis didn't share their commitment to competing for trophies.

They all heard it straight from the horses mouth and got to ask all the questions and make all the points they wanted. If they were not satisfied or reassured, why should we be? Why would a big corporate sponsor want to be associated with us?

These two are not taking us in the right direction.

It's the board that employs them. And whatever one thinks of Wenger/Gazidis, they're doing what their bosses want them to do.

Btw, I actually agree with Klaus that re-signing van Persie might've been a bad idea anyway. But as usual, the replacements are underwhelming. Even the most vehement (or brainwashed) Wengerites have to admit that were certainly not moving closer to winning things.

Can't the thread title be "The Gazidis cancer"?

Wenger doesn't deserve to be in there because no one at the club wants to win more than Arsene Wenger, you could see how hurt he was at times last season and the one before that where he chucked a water bottle when we lost to spurs.

The man obviously cares and to put him in the same category as that corporate slimeball gazidis is an insult.

I would certainly like to hear what wenger and co said to van persie in that meeting, i suppose robin not saying it shows a certain amount of loyalty to wenger not the fans who he claims to care a lot about.

They said, we are going to sign some players, which they did. 😆

You guys love pulling Gazidis up on his nonsense, see Perse's (and Cesc's) statement for what it is.

This hasn't only happened the last 7 years it's been happening the last 30 Brady,Stapleton,Thomas, overmars, petit, piers,Henry, vieira.

Gazidis is disingenuous, Wenger is at best deluded.

Anyway, too soon too judge this summer. I don't think the club were expecting what Van Persie did tonight (who was???) so , as well as my views are known on these two, lets see how it all plaus out.

he couldn't leave out wenger because then it would be silly to blame gazidis for the last 7 years when he only came in 2009.

so sorry that he had to include saint arsene in his post but this wouldn't make much sense otherwise right?

Great players leave all the time. Great clubs replace them with great players. But our squad gets more and more avg every time we sell our captain, which seems to be almost an annual occurrence now.

Henry would've stayed until he was let go if he felt his career ambitions could've been met here. Fabregas might've stayed a little longer if he thought there's be a point to it. van persie is no different, and the reasons for their decisions are an uncomfortable truth to the Wenger and gazidis loyalists.

there maybe a lot of wenger loyalists left, but gazidis? really?

Using 7 years is silly though. The way Henry left or his reasons for leaving have absolutely nothing to do with the point I think this thread is supposed to make.

Didn't Henry leave bc the youth project wouldn't come to fruition before his career effectively ended? Youth project and lack of ambition are the same to me - its not like we expensively assembled the best young players in the world. We scoured the globe to bring denilson, almunia, Bendtner and eboue together. It was just a euphemism for costcutting, except we managed to overpay the shitsters too!

I don't remember Henry saying that was why he was leaving. Its also not why Fabregas left.

I agree theres a problem I just don't think those are good examples. I do however think if the root cause of problem was fixed we'd have kept them both, and I think that problem is relatively low wages.

I just struggle to see how the club can claim we're ambitious. We're treading water in the hope that financial fair play we'll drag us to the top of the league. We seriously underestimate the benefit of short-term success. Even if the club were willing to fork bigger sums of cash, we're now in a position where the top players aren't interested in joining this sorry 'project'. At best we now replace departing players with substitutes of the same level; realistically, we tend to actually bring in players of lower quality, less experience and hope they shine. Lack of top players, lack of continuity, we gradually get worse.

It's not FFP we are waiting on.

😆 the fact that a man decides to cross the atlantic in a raft doesn't mean his desire isn't strong, it also doesn't mean he is sane or has a realistic chance!

You're using alot of analogies today. Don't be surprised if Sabre comes looking for you.

Better commercial deals then? Doesn't our performance have an impact on that?

In the first phase I'd say it is all on the commercial side, but then we sure as fuck are hoping that the FFP along with further development on the commersial side will get us closer to the top.
