I'm aware I'll most likely be dismissed as an overly giddy mad fool, but I genuninely think we have a shot at the title this season, even without a top striker.
We've amassed more points that anyone else in 2013, which is something like a 20 game sample, so nothing to turn your nose up at. You can't dismiss it as luck, or a purple patch. We have, in my opinion, been a much tougher outfit to beat. There is no reason that should change with a new season, and so far, first game jitters aside, it hasn't.
I guess the question is, why can't we maintain that run this season, particularly with the addition of Oezil and Flamini? It's hard to ignore our failings, dips in form and awful results from the past few seasons and not be certain that the same will happen again sooner or later. But the circumstances are different, we have a stable squad that we've added to rather than subtracted from. When was the last time we could say that? Not since before our trophyless period is the answer.
We'll see.
