The Chelsea comparison is a bit of a canard, Chelsea had other goalscoring options through the season, notably Hazard but they also found goals from Willian and Schurrle.
Without considering the beatings, take a look at the other dropped points:
28/1 Southampton 2-2 away draw, we fielded a front three of Cazorla, Giroud, Gnabry and subbed on Poldi in the 90th minute
12/2 United 0-0 at home, front three of Cazorla, Giroud, Rosicky, subbed on Ox for Rosicky at 74th minute
1/3 Stoke 1-0 away loss, front three of Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla with Rosicky at 10 ...
25/3 Swansea 2-2 home draw, Cazorla, Giroud, Ox up front with Rosicky at 10, subbed on Ox, Podolski and Kallstrom, dropped two points to 90th minute Flamini own goal
29/3 City 1-1 home draw, Podolski, Giroud, Rosicky, Cazorla up front, subbed on Ox and Sanogo looking for a goal
With Giroud out of form and so very few scoring options in the setup we've been so toothless. Sanogo hasn't scored, Rosicky and Cazorla aren't real forwards at all, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been great but still has rough edges in front of goal, and Podolski suffers from Wenger's preferences but also often only looks a decent player after he's put the ball in the net.
Any signing with a skerrick of pace and finishing would've been ideal, but even a journeyman bench option to sub in for Giroud would have been useful.
