Amazing that we lost to Villa at home, and won everything else to go top - while they won away to arsenal, and lost everything else. We really should have been 3 points to the better.

It's tough though, Arteta and Podolski can play a big part too, Flamini would be useful against certain teams.

That said, I'm tempted to see both Podolski and Walcott in there if we have opponents who want to attack us. With Cazorla and Ozil feeding them, such teams could be put to the sword. I'm thinking the likes of Cardiff and Swansea here.

Agree. The podolski Walcott combo looked great on the counter v Fulham

Think Chambo was about to explode. Love him cutting in from the left and firing in shots. Hope he recreates that Milan form

Really? Think they'd be disciplined enough (specifically Wilshere) to be the 1st choice central midfield?

Think I'd stick with Arteta and Ramsey for this season, planning on using Wilshere and Ramsey next year.

Best 11 has to be Dula's "Big-Game Squad". Wilshere is not gonna play instead of Santi, and he won't do Arteta's job so he's second choice to Ramsey as well. Flamini is Art's backup until Wilshere learns to play the deeper role properly. Honestly, Wilshere should be a sub if not for our injury crisis...sticking him out on the wing is not great either. He's a butter-knife in terms of final product.

Everyone talks about Özil's combination with Cazorla and Wilshere, but I think he and Arteta could form a great symbiotic relationship in midfield.

Jack isn't ready, just like Ramsey wasn't ready. He will be, but he doesn't need an extended run of baptism by fire while forcing our first team to deal with his growing pains. If he keeps on playing, he'll have to go back to basics and learn to defend and keep the shape in midfield or he'll be our "dud" for the season. Wenger better not force the role on him if he isn't ready for it...but we all know he will because he's stubborn and values player growth over all else.

I agree, coombs, that is: at the moment it is so. But I think it won't take Jack as long as it did Ramsey: Jack was never as poor as Rambo was 18 months ago, and he's a much more natural player. Sure, he does suffer some similar things, but while with Ramsey we had to wait for a long time, and a whole process of development, recovery, maturing, confidence and then the next level - with Jack it could explode in a much quicker way.
If he keeps healthy, and is not forced (as you rightfully say), he'll get to that point. Can't say exactly, but if it happens in just months from now, I sure won't be surprised.

Hasn't Wenger already said that Wilshere and Ramsey are not yet mature enough to carry the midfield? I think he's right.

The deeper role should go to Arteta or Flamini, basically someone who knows where to stand when we don't have the ball.

Exactly, people are quickly getting really carried away. The first half of the Spurs game was probably the best our midfield's played all season with Jack in the middle of it. Wenger's going to have no problems starting against any side with a Wilshere-Ramsey midfield.

Have to agree. Even when he is at his worst he's the kind of player who can make a genuine difference when it matters. You'd always look to include him whenever possible. It doesn't mean everything is always rosy but it has to be put in perspective. Ramsey got the same treatment in the past two seasons, only much worse. People study them in close-up and find them lacking, but look close enough and you'll find weaknesses in most players.

Wilshere will do well not being the centre of attention or the linchpin, or even a certain starter for a while. It'll be the making of him - fewer injuries and a more level-headed investment of energy over ninety minutes.

He has been bloody good in many of our recent games, the fact he's not scoring Zidanesque volleys is neither here nor there at this exact moment.

Right, there's your answer! I'd add that he's not a starter for me in our current strongest 11. So, that's what he isn't ready for.
