Lumbering, a bit average technically, wouldn't fit in our midfield, too expensive at £24million.

One of the best possible signings we could make imo.

Yes please, good player.

Firstly, he is a big unit and a runner can't go past him as easily as they can past Arteta or Wilshere. A midfield that is not capable of stopping runners is one of our primary defensive problem.

As for passing goes, he is fairly comfortable with it without being spectacular. I'm sure, he can learn to play a simple passing game and won't be a liability. Otherwise, he can contribute higher up the pitch as well, would be a constant threat from set-pieces and an asset whilst defending them and would be a good man to kick ball in the fag end of matches that we're chasing.

Ultimately, he is a very successful Premier League player and whoever gets him will have an asset at hand. He will almost invariably prefer going to Moyes' new team if they want him badly, so, the best course of action for someone who wants him will be to snap him up early.

I wouldn't say no as he's a good player and a physical presence but I don't really think he'd be the best use of our resources.

He's said before that he prefers to play as a defensive midfielder. Usually players all want to go forward and be more attacking, so someone wanting to defend is always a plus.

He ticks a lot of boxes. Talented, tall, good age, premiere league experienced. 24 million sounds a bit much, but I'm realising more and more that I need to adjust my view about what a 20+ million player is.

Would love this for a number of reasons.

He's not the player I'd like as our record signing, though he would be a good addition to our squad.
Possibly a tiny bit overrated because he took United apart a few times.

So long as he isn't brought here under the misconception that he is a defensive midfielder.

No point buying this guy unless we're playing him up front or at 10. He'll cost far more than he'd be worth as a withdrawn midfielder alone - He's nowhere near good enough in that position to justify it.

It would be a complete waste to spend a massive goalscorer's premium on him, then waste him miles from goal

Yes, exactly.

He's fantastic. Not only is he strong but he's a very good user of the ball. Does the simple things so well.

Would love it if we signed him

He was 15+ million player before Everton signed him so he has to be worth 20+ now. Getting to prime age too.
