It's rubbish to go tor Cesar without trying for Adler or Ter Stegen first. Think he'll be a fine backup if he can't cut it as a starter though. And who knows, maybe he'll rediscover some form like Lehmann and van der Sar did.

Agree. I'm a bit baffled by this attitude that our keeper situation is 'good enough' or 'will do' after proclamations throughout the Almunia years that it's one of the most important positions on the pitch to build a team from. Szczesny's likability isn't enough to warrant being number 1. And his performances over the past couple of years certainly don't warrant it however talented he may be.

As for Ceasar, I'm not sure. A few years ago he was absolutely world class. But I've heard he's been a bit dodgy at QPR? And if crosses is a weaknesses, then that's too big of an issue to overlook. We need a confident, comanding keeper.

Cesar has been good whenever I've seen him this season. He's better than Shezny anyway.

Cesar can fill the pie-eating void that Santos left. Other than that, I don't really see the point of this signing.

Its the opposite for me - whenever i saw QPR he was ranging from average to bad and yet i kept hearing he is excellent from media. He certainly has some serious convincing to do if he is coming here.

Really do not want.

He's gonna leave qpr and come to us isn't he 🙁

Not to mention he already snubbed us once and went for an 'intresting project' in QPR. And if he comes his best buddy Santos will be happy to stay and not go out on loan.

Time to trot out the cliche about how an Arsenal keeper needs to be able to do nothing for 90 mins and then pull off a save. To me Cesar looks at his best when he is peppered with shots.

He is better than Mannone or the permacrock Fabianski though, so rather have him than noone.

Why all the talk about him suddenly? Have I missed something? Not convinced we will sign this guy, he is on 90k per week right?

There are so many top keepers out there better and more value than him. Wenger will be dumb to get him.

Guess this is the only way we should really look at it if we dont want to be overly negative. But i was really hoping we get Adler. Damn it.

He's also better than Shezny.

Word.

As long as signing him doesn't jeopardize the funds for other more important players/positions.

We seem to be saying that about everyone we're linked with now!

Or lets just get Cesc and Rooney and dick the league.

Hmmm it's all very well winning the league, but that's not gonna be useful on a rainy day in five years time

Certain dry powders can get you quite a bit by the kilo.

Wow first Villa and now this guy? Catastrophic signings abound. Not Ter-stegen, or mignolet, or begovic but this guy? I mean really? This summer is not warchesty at all.

Won't mind having him if we can get Jovetic or Bender or some other top quality signing in a priority position.

It's coz he's old, isn't it?

Anybody see Ter Stegen's hilarious own goal tonight?

😆 [1:19]

Not doing his career any favors with that one

Farcical. How the fuck does that even happen? 😆

So who's going to be the first to sign out of Cesar, Sanogo and Grenier?
I'd bet on it being in the order of Cesar, Sanogo and Grenier.
Less sure about Jovetic signing later on, Villa will probably sign ahead of him.

I don't think we're signing Cesar or Grenier. So Sanogo.

Allegedly some bookies have stopped taking bets on Cesar to Arsenal.

Will prove to be an inspired signing.

I can see why Wenger is interested. I have always thought Flappy would be off this summer, so naturally we'd then need a new goalkeeper. Cesar, for me, is a better goalkeeper than Flappy, and roughly at the level of Sneezey - we would then be marginally stronger over all in that area.

Then again, I never really felt we needed a better goalkeeper to begin with, so I am not fussed either way. I reckon someone of Cesar's age and background would do well in our squad though, and he is someone Sneezey could learn from at least.

It's precisely the marginal upgrade in a currently fairly unimportant area that I find so annoying.

Oh I agree. Wish we would spunk it all on two top class attacking players and leave it at that.

No idea what some of you lot are even moaning at. Julio Cesar isn't going to stop us doing anything and goalkeeper is a position that was never going to see an amazing signing anyway.

People are not happy we are not aiming at a better keeper for a long term first choice position.

Begovic, Mignolet, Adler, Ter Stegen for e.g. are all available.
