I am going to go for Remy here, for various reasons.

Shaw is talented but he still has to make a few steps before he's brilliant. The hype is too much at the mo. He doesn't impact games much.

I'd say Gibbs is the better player

I could see Shaw bucking under the pressure a bit. I certainly think £30m for a teenage full back with a lot to prove is madness.

He is not yet better, I would give him this season to compare. Just because he have better stats at Southampton than Gibbs doesn't mean he will perform at the highest level for United in europe etc.

Shaw is both better and younger. He might need some time to grow into his new role, but it's not like Gibbs has regularly been putting in stellar performances "at the highest level" for us.

Gibbs is a big talent, but he still has a long way to go before he can be considered a quality left back. Far too inconsistent and prone to injuries.

You clearly didn't watch him for Southampton last season. One of his best performances came when we played them away ffs, he dominated Sagna as an 18-year-old.

What exactly does Gibbs do well to even be rated by Arsenal fans? He doesn't do much offensively (not just a subjective judgment - his stats are way behind the elites) he's a good but not great defender, he made some serious positional mistakes last season, and he's injury prone. Shaw will be a top 3 LB in Europe for about 8-10 seasons. Based on what Gibbs has shown so far he won't amount to much of anything. He needs to step up next season or Wenger will be in the market for a left back in 2015.

Sadly as much as I like Gibbs he just isn't that good (yet, I still think he can come good). I think Shaw is overrated but he's still better than Gibbs.

It's all opinion of course but Gibbs looks better on the ball and is more agile. Plus Gibbs on the top of his game is better than Shaw on top of his.

Gibbs is not better on the ball.

Gibbs is really meh, not a problem position for us though.

Opinions again but I haven't seen any great shakes from Shaw on that front. His strength is his power and stamina
