he would fight just and I think Cesc would hvae too as the option to buy out his remain contract (which he could have done last summer if he had stayed) would have cost him close to £25 mil and would have made him an utter pariah.
the club took a gamble that they could never win from. If they sold RvP and he succeed we would get no where, if they took the money they couldn't buy a replacement as they had no one in mind or the willingness to spend to get that sort of player. The only fear for them was that he stayed and kicked up a shit storm or at least that is what they said. I doubt they really gave it there full thought to keeping him and maybe giving him incentives to play well just for that one season for example as Ivan said was 1 option when speaking to fans' groups this summer.
In Cesc's case why did he sign a contract with no Barca release clause with set caveats if its his ultimate intention? I think he just gave up with the program here and ran home but it wasn't in the contract so Wenger shouldn't have been offering out shit to the guy when its no down in writing as it easily could have been.
That Cesc sale finished Wenger for me as we heard that he finalised the OK on it, no supirse that red nose was calling him up telling him to just let Robin go a year later. The man is a certified pussy hole pushover.
