Not everybody is as stupid as us. Even Liverpool isn't. They know they won't be able to account to their fans if they sold their star man to another club in the same league.
Their star player don't have 12 months left on his contract. They actually have a bit of leverage.
Who knows whether Persie would have left? It is just speculation. What is beyond doubt is that we sold our best player to one of the teams we need to catch up on, and the title in the process, for £24m.
We know because he said he would. It's not speculation.
Look, this has been done to death already. Either you agree with the reason or you don't. But there was a reason. It's not comparable to Liverpool's situation at all.
