There was a time not that long ago when most people would have considered Rooney to be the third best player in the world. Our latest striker signings include Chamakh and Giroud. I'm willing to forgive a dive against us nearly 9 years ago if he brings us another trophy.

3rd best is strong. Top 20 in recent times certainly. And that's good company if you think that Barca and Bayern alone could have about 10 of these players.
