Am i the only one that wasn't particularly impressed by that highlight video?
I may have been wrong as i always thought of him, more, as a cold blooded Eduardo-type finisher.

He is a good player but he won't have an Aguero or Torres type impact in the Premier League. He's not a fighter and he doesn't have the zip (acceleration) about him to be super-successful in here.

His lack of goals in Champions' League is a red flag worth paying attention to while evaluating him.

He's the best of all strikers we've been linked to so far..whether he's good enough I don't know.

If you're going to use the argument that he hasn't shown that he will have an Aguero or Torres type impact in the EPL, don't forget that those players were the focal points in their respective attacks at Atletico Madrid. Higuain is not by a long shot and it isn't due to his talent, just that he plays on the same team as Ronaldo and Ozil. Aguero showed a bit in the brief Champions League experience Atletico had prior to him leaving- I think he scored 2 against City in the group stages but mostly they played in Europa League. Personally I think that if we had Higuain leading the line, he would score 20+ league goals. I have always loved his game and if he was the focal point of our attack, I don't see him missing some of the chances Giroud missed. Put Jovetic either in the hole behind him or on the left side and that's a dynamic attack.

The more I think about it the more I think Higuain is the right choice for us. He has the quality and the profile to give us a massive boost both on the pitch and off it. He's had his shot at Madrid and wasn't too happy so he's less likely to run off after a bigger pay check at the first opportunity. And he's the right age. No too old and not too young. He's at the age we've been buying recently and should be able to blend with our squad pretty easily.

Of all the strikers who we've been realistically linked with I think he's the one I want.

Think I agree. He doesn't excite me massively but I think he'd be a very, very solid signing.

Something about Higuain that doesn't sit right with me, not sure what it is.

He's fairly weak and not particularly quick, rarely scores against the big teams and doesn't seem to have the mentality to be a top, top player.

For those who doubt Higuain due to his 'lack' of pace, I think that he's faster or on par with RVP, Benteke,Michu who are all great strikers in the PL. I remember a whoscored feature which tried to find the best finisher in Europe and it turned out Higuain had the best goals scored to shots taken ratio. He defines the dictum of "one shot, one goal".

He's technically a significant cut above Giroud, and he's prolific, could be the one in two striker we need.

He seems quite prone to picking up physical complaints, so might need regular rotation.

I like this rumour. If there is anything behind the stories that have been circulated in the past couple of weeks there should be activity on this early in the transfer window.

Furthermore if he works out, but doesn't do amazingly well, he's young enough that we can recoup in two or three years.

How much woud he cost? Juventus director has said they would find it financially easier to sign Tevez than Higuain.

£22m or 25m€ or thereabouts according to rumour, and a nett wage of around £90k/w.

At this price, there really is no excuse for not going out and getting him. Rotate him with Giroud, with Higuain getting more games of course but keeping him healthy. The big game complaint holds a little weight but when you watch Madrid play, he's there to hold up play and bring their wingers into the game. I really would love to see him be the focal point of an attack because I think hes one of the best finishers out there. He has technique, pace, some power and can finish everything.

You really need to change that horrible avi Burnsy.

I kinda want a gif of just the end bit of this:

Where he rolls over twice and clutches his head as the penalty is denied.

I was thinking of editing that gif to make the roll loop a bunch of times but I haven't edited an animated gif in years and don't fancy the hassle of getting back into it.

£19m for Higuain?

22, 27, 10, 22, 14 the number of la Liga goals that he's scored each season since 08/09.
14 being this season's total (started 17 games).
The 09/10 season he scored those 27 in 28 starts.

Is he the type of player who would struggle against PL style defenders?
Though if the defending in the league next season is anything like as poor as it was this season he could hit the ground running.
