The pairing will have been attracted in the main by his goalscoring capabilities, with only 3 of the 38 players to have scored 15 or more goals in Europe’s top five leagues this season - Dario Cvitanich (63.3%), Lionel Messi (57.5%) and Alexander Meier (57.1%) - boasting a higher success rate than Higuaín (55.2%) when it comes to percentage of shots on target which were scored.

When comparing this success rate with the top scoring strikers of both Arsenal and Juventus - Theo Walcott (14 goals) and Olivier Giroud (11) of Arsenal and Mirko Vucinic (10) and Fabio Quagliarella (9) of Juventus - Higuaín’s prolificacy again stands out, with their respective rates coming in at 35.9%, 29%, 25.7% and 25%.

I'd be worried when it all comes on top, we have no way out and Higuain is getting bossed by two lumbering centre backs.

I concede that may not happen, but that's how I envisage it.

What do up mean "when it all comes on top"?

Think he'd be hugely effective for us. Plus we'd have always have giroud in reserve

That's why I'm okay with a hard working brute who is less deadly. Clearly, I would like a unit that scores goals galore, but there aren't too many of those.

But the hard working brute doesn't score, passes up decent chances and is redundant.
I'd prefer a player who can convert even a half chance.

Higuain's general play is decent, obviously his most impressive feature is goalscoring but his work-rate, combination play and hold up play isn't that bad. And as Dula says we've got Giroud as another option.

Cvitanich and Meier are both elderly at 29 and 30 respectively. Plus we already signed France's top scorer last summer.

Bloke doesn't work particularly hard for a start and throws himself on the floor like a kid when he gets touched. Can be fixed though.

Madrid are starting to get difficult now that they know we have money and need a striker desperately. Perez just came with the 30 million is bare minimum comments and they won't be under any pressure to sell unless they feel that we are going after other targets or they need to go after theirs.

Suarez and Bale seem to be their targets now, but, they'll probably finalize only after Ancelotti comes in.
