Yep, thats that. But thats not to say we shouldn't go for him anytime soon. All the good players nowadays go for big money, if we want to be successful again we need to get a top striker for big money, no doubts about that. Just look at how good Falcao is for A.Madrid after they dished out so much for him.

Anyway, watching City for a few match now I realised something. Silva is so much better than Nasri.

He was mediocre last season, he's stepped it up this season. Although he did just fail to pass the ball to an open Aguero in a very similar way to Gervinho last week that so many people here wet their pants about.

Oh and Silva is also one of the biggest divers in the league now.

Not so best buy, but he was quite good last year too. The goal against Blackpool comes to mind.

yeah I can see where you are coming from in Yaya but for me Yaya was more of a known quantity so for me Silva was a surprise as although i knew him and had seen him in a few la liga I hadn't really followed him.

How do you know what he is demanding? If you exclude the mega rich clubs, which you can since he is still at Napoli, we pay our players really well. Of course we could have signed him this summer!

Don't be silly Rex, I'm talking about Aguero 🙂
We could compete for players on transfer fee maybe if we desperately wanted to but it seems now that wages are being held up as a reason why we can't sign big players.

Not going for a Cavani is more of an ideological decision at Arsenal, and for that kind of money we should be able to get better value IMO.

I completely lost track of the argument (ok I admit I just skimmed the posts) and thought you were talking about signing Aguero.
Point still stands about our wage cap though.
Increasingly it's been mentioned as a reason for us not capturing the best.
I wonder if this is because the board don't want to feel any heat as regards not spending our Cesc Nasri kitty?

My argument is that every good player can´t play for Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona. If you exclude those clubs we don´t pay poor wages to our top players. Players like Vidal, Cavani, Hazard, Götze, Lavezzi - those are the players we should target. Had we moved swiftly enough this summer a player of that calibre in Mata would have already been with us IMO.

That's my point though Rex, our board/ Wenger seem ill disposed towards seriously going after the calibre of players that you've listed.
The only reason I can think of to explain it is that we don't want to pay the wages that these players could justifiably request.

Watching Stoke steam through United's midfield time and time again, De Gea has made two brilliant saves and Stoke have had at least another 2-3 good chances inside the ManU box, Stat flashed up that De Gea has made more saves than any other keeper in the league this season and yet all I hear every week is how much of a defensive juggernaut ManU have been and how brilliant their young defenders are. Watched every game that they have played and it's been the same.

As usual, Nani has given them the lead and they are 0-1 up. 😆
