Over the summer, a lot people complained about the price that Atletico paid for Falcao. At the time I indicates that the most important thing is that they had reassured fans and players by bringing in a well-known name. Well, he's on fire. Scored two today and had a hand in the first, as an encore to his hat trick in the last game.

We could have, but apparently the board won't sanction the kind of wages he'd be demanding.
For him I'd break our transfer record and smash the wage ceiling.
I'm sure the majority of our players would see that they are not worthy of the same weekly wage as Aguero :hmm:

So? Wenger needs to know we need to spend that kind of money in able to compete. Week in week out, we are looking at teams doing so well in the league so much that he should know we are miles away from competing at the top. I don't even think we have a better squad than Pool and Spurs to say the least. We are a europa league standard team at the moment and it hurts to see that.

Was watching MOTD. Young and Jones are bloody inspired signings, especially the former. He is so good its unbelievable, adds so much to Manure. Spurs have more quality than us as well, Ade Kranjcar Modric Parker Bale etc. City, needless to say few levels above us. Liverpool have Suarez, Chelsea have Mata, Torres (make no mistake, he had a brilliant game minus those misses). Can't think of a single top class player in our team at the moment

The only truly quality signing United made this year is Young. The others are made to look better than they are by Ferguson. The rage about guys like Smallimg and Jones is due to their offensive work. Neither of them have proven themselves defensively yet. The key with United is Ferguson has a very clear vision and doesn't mind paying over the odds for players that fit into that vision.

Anyone who thinks that Cavani would have moved for anything less than a record-breaking fee in the summer has been sleeping for the past eighteen months. He signed for Napoli last year for a record fee and ended up scoring 26 league goals in his debut season for them. All the big Italian clubs have been showing interest but been told to go home.

We probably could have signed him early in 2009 for decent money, but nobody would have wanted him back then.
