It's a complete facade. It's obviously not a competitive market price and goes completely against the financial fair play rules. If the FFP is a load of bollox that's fine, we'll all have to just deal with it, but having this pretence is ridiculous.

Couldn't care less.

I know if Wenger actually plays smart in his management then we can win the league title. He hasn't for so many years that I doubt he can reproduce anything of note anymore. A new intelligent manager could/could have lifted us to the PL title.

Chelsea have shown that money isn't everything and City will show the same thing.

Other clubs being richer than us should not be an excuse to be complacent in our dealings. I know that's not what people are saying but just throwing it out there.

But they haven't won what they've wanted to win or what they should have won with all that money.

They've won a hell of a lot more than us in that time but no CL title and not as many Prem titles as many people were expecting. In the last 5 years United have won 4 PL titles.

We threw away two good opportunities to win a title in past 4 years. The coach is not up to it, nor are the players he uses. Money is only a small part of our problem

Just on the City naming rights thing again. Last year Manchester council, who owns the stadium, rewrote the stadium charter so their tennants, Man City, could rename the stadium and keep any proceeds. If this Etihad deal is at a fair, competitive market price, why didn't the city council just invite offers and do a similar deal, then bank the millions for themselves?

Because it simply isn't at market price but every man and his dog said that this would happen as soon as the proposals for the FFP policy were made. UEFA can do nothing and other (influential) clubs will not stand against it because it represents opportunity for them as well.

Will be interesting if UEFA accepts this. If they do, it makes a mockery of what they seem to put quite a lot of prestige in. This is basically Man City flipping them the birdie.

You're right, and the thing that's so stupid about it is that this is EXACTLY what "every man and his dog" said would happen, because it's so bloody obvious. People talk about loopholes and stuff, but there's no weird and wonderful creative accounting or anything particularly clever going on. Basically, the owner has just sponsored the club for a bajillion pounds. It's a step up from buying an executive box for £50m a season, but not by much.

Well they can, they have a panel specifically for this sort of thing.

It's just a matter of whether or not they have the balls to do anything about it. If they let it go, then it pretty much kills the FFP right here.
