Bullshit. Walker made the epic signings of Shearer for a bit over £3m and Sutton for around £5m during his tenure. Arsenal then went and signed Bergkamp for £7.5m a couple of years later.
The equivalent now would be us going out for a £50m signing. Meanwhile Chelsea have already signed one £30m player this summer and are in the market for another. They do this season upon season as well.
The game has changed and it's much further out of our reach financially than it ever was in the 90s.
