Arseblogger brought it up the other day, but I haven´t seen it discussed here.
A player in MLS, Brian Mullan, broke a player´s leg with a reckless challenge. Since it was a straight red he first received an automatic 1 game ban. After the MLS review board had looked at the incident properly they banned him for another 9 games, taking the total of banned games up to 10.

Firstly, they have a review board that looks at incidents afterwards, regardless if the ref has made a ruling or not.
Secondly, a 10 game ban for a reckless challenge might actually have an effect on players before they commit to stupid challenges.
Thirdly, this is exactly what the EPL needs IMO.
