If Kenny actually wins the FA Cup, that's good for Liverpool given their performances since the 2009-10 season.
3 seasons of mediocrity (for them at least).
Liverpool aren't a top dog team anymore. Everton are just as good and really should be beating Liverpool more often. They rarely turn up in Scouse derbies.
No one's denying that winning the FA cup is an achievement but the wider picture is that if a cup final is the best that they can offer after 3 seasons of steady decline despite changing 2 managers and spending 100m, I'd be worried. And therefore it matters whether they come 8th or 11th. Not being the top dog is one thing, but being behind 9-10 other clubs is embarrassing and to see the team being unable to change that must be frustrating
Liverpool have gone from hoping to challenge United, to trying to sneak in ahead of Arsenal and then Newcastle and now they'll be lucky if they hold off Fulham and WBA.
