the 5th richest club in the world is 28th in england in net transfer spending over the last 5 yrs. ok, so maybe everyone else is wrong to be so far in the red, but surely we can acquire better players than this? it's an absurd extreme that almost half the championship has outspent us on transfers.

Villas - Boas should be given time at Chelsea if Abramovich had any sense. He doesn´t though.

Abromovich's meddling and impatience with his managers, combined with his acceptance of the hierarchy amongst the senior Chelsea players allows Terry, Lampard and co to wreck whatever chance any new manager will have for as long as they are there and in decline.

I wonder if Abromovich will get fed up and tire of all of this?
Must have been easier and more fun for him when he was the only one who could buy his way to the top.

Marcotti was saying on the radio the other day that Abramovich actually doesn't sack managers off the cuff. He made some good points and I agree with him.

Buying your way to the top is the only way you're going to win these days.

Chelsea did, Man City did it, Liverpool spent 100 mill (on dross) but look to be on the verge of winning two cups. Man Utd continue to spend big on players (Berbatov, Rooney, Ferdinand).

It's all become a game of who can outspend everyone else and get the team to gel at the same time.

I'm sure he puts thought into why he needs to sack a manager, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he's not premature in doing so?
