Brilliant, brilliant goal. But still lucky as hell when you see the replay.

The problem with City is that Mancini misuses Yaya to devastating effect.

It's embarrassing.

Yeah, took a quality defensive midfielder and turned him into an poor-average attacking player.

Oh well, that pretty much rules City out of it now too, we're the last hope!

He needs to be playing in one of the other two midfield slots; dominating the middle and moving forward with the ball when the opportunity arises, I suppose you could say in a Vieira style. Instead they expect him to play like Kaka.

a very typical man u performance this year. boring, dull, hardly creating chances or dominating possession, yet they win. bah, we both should and must beat these cunts at home.

It'll be disgusting if we let that shower of shite finish above us. No fucking excuses Arsenal!!!

Not too fussed about that result, was expecting ManU to pick up three today. Mancini needs to take lessons from today if he is to take City forward; he can't keep playing such cautious football in this league.

I'm not too fussed at the result. I've seen enough of ManU to know they're going to drop enough points for us to win the League - it's all about whether or not we're up to it.

Also, has there ever been a more frustrating player than David Silva? He promises so much, but delivers so little.

The quality is obvious though. The kind of player that would fit right in here.

Nasri and Modric took a while to really get going.

silva is brilliant. too bad he's playing with a bunch of no brain goons at city. he'd be fantastic here.

Silva has intelligence and technical quality coming out of his earholes, but he generally does sod all with it, where it counts anyway. So immensely frustrating.

Modric has had to move back in midfield because he just isn't productive enough int he final third. Although Nasri is a good shout I guess.

Nasri came to Arsenal as a 20 year old though. Silva is 25 and had already done most of his development at Valencia when City bought him. He's been like this for most of his career too. Lovely player on the ball, but also very selfish and wasteful.

Why on earth are people going beserk about Rooney's goal? It was blooming good but the hyperbolic comments going around are way off.

It was a great goal, but truly, it was a little fortunate. He caught it sweet and it flew in.

Bebratov's similar strike against Liverpool earlier this season was probably better. More calculated and intentional.

It was a great goal from the ogre.

So you think Rooney didn't mean to score? Please.

Hahaha!

Got in the edit nicely.

Yeah, that's my point Ricky. You see goals like that scored fairly regularly. whereas Berbatov's was really quite special and better in my eyes.

If VanPersie scored it to win the NLD I suspect your reaction would be quite different.

Yeah, sure. But remove that context and people ought not to be instantly proclaiming it as the goal of the season; for me context like that is only relevant for fans watching the game, otherwise it is completely irrelevant.

Nah Rooney's was at least as good as Berbatov's.

It's only because it's Rooney that people are downplaying it (for those who are).

Goals in high pressure games are always worth more. Henry's against Real Madrid or Tottenham for instance are gold medal goals while David Ginola's against Barnsley (?) is barely remembered by even Tottenham fans.

...yes, gold medals for the fans that support the respective teams. But it's not just Manure fans who are going overboard.

@ Tony

If anything, I think it's because it's Rooney that people are hyping it.

Those two Henry goals have been in every champions league/premiership advert since.

Haha. I figured it wasn't worth it. I didn't want to spend the next thirty minutes explaining myself. It was just a small wind-up.

It was a smashing goal from Rooney in all honesty. I think Don would have rated it higher if van Persie had done it against Spurs.

It wasn't better than this one though:

I remember thinking this was the greatest thing I had ever seen some years ago.

I thought it was a very good goal myself. If Utd win the title they may look back at this goal which came out of nowhere. Rivaldo's against Valencia on that final day in the 90th minute for CL qualification is the best i have ever seen though. Gudjohnsen against Leeds a few years back was superb too.

No the media are hyping it up but there comes a point where the hype is justified. A bit like Arsenal's invincibles.

But on here obviously no one on here likes Rooney or United. So when they do well there are always caveats to the praises. Then the criticisms go too far so that the goal or piece of play is underrated.

If RVP scored that goal we'd be raving about his technique and what have you.

Me too. It had everything: composure, vision and outrageous skill. Not to mention it completed his hattrick that night. He knew exactly what he was doing. You can see it on the video footage. He pushes the defender away before he traps it with his chest to make room for the bicycleta.

1-1 Dawson.

You could sense a spurs goal tbh.

Only Brazilians can score that type of goal.

Completely unrelated, but isn't it strange how Messi has such typical Argentinian technique despite being in Spain for most of his life?

They're hyping it up because it's Rooney, and they're desperate for him to come back. It was a really good goal, and it was jaw dropping seeing it in real-time, because of it came out of nowhere, but like van Persie's volley against Charlton, it's not my favourite kind of goal. Lot of luck involved. Sometimes you catch it sweet and it flies in, other times it flies over the bar or you miss it all together. Peter Crouch has scored a similar goal, in fact, he's done it numerous times.

Crouch has the advantage that his legs are twice as long as any other human beings.

2-1 to Spurs. Krancjar with a great finish.

I'm glad we're not playing them for a while.

Sometimes when you score a long range shot it flies in, sometimes it flies just wide or over, and sometimes the keeper touches it out wide and sometimes it flies way over the bar......or you scuff it.

I hate Spurs, but I do wish that they can go on a run and finish above Chelsea. Chelsea fans boasting about their new-found wealth and bling really annoy the hell out of me. At least even if Spurs finished in 4th, we'd still be able to celebrate St. Totteringham's day

Yeah, and if someone puts their foot through it from 25 yards and it flies in the top corner, you won't see me proclaiming it an incredible goal, for those very reasons.
