Worries me a bit that the San Siro pitch seems so poor when it is this cold. Both during the Napoli game and yesterday players were slipping left, right and center. A lot of players seemed to have trouble controlling the ball as well. When Del Piero struggles with that - then I blame the pitch. 🙂

Revenue of 251.1m versus Madrid's 479.5m (euro).

Thanks for the link, Y. Interesting to compare us to United, we're lagging badly behind on all fronts, but the difference in commercial income is staggering really:

It gets worse when compared to Bayern's commercial dealings, a club we should be at least competing with on the commercial front in my opinion:

Real Madrid and Barcelona are disgusting cheats because of their exclusive TV deals and so getting a lot closer to them is going to be difficult, if not impossible, but they both comfortably outstrip us on the commercial front, too - as you'd expect.

We're just not quite in the big League yet.

Not sure if you noticed Ricky, but Bayern Munich have the highest commercial revenues in the world.

No, I thought Real's and Barca's were bigger.

How do they do that? They're a massive club, but surely Real, Barca and United should be outperforming them? I would have thought we would have had half a chance of matching them commercially once we make our improvements over the next few years. Maybe not.

Bayern seem to be the best run club around.

Bayern are by far the biggest club in a country of 80 million, and I'd imagine they're pretty well supported in all the old Soviet bloc countries. Basically they're the only huge football club between the Alps and Moscow.

So our revenues have fallen quite a bit this year. What the reason for that? If we lose CL we're gonna feel the pinch big time.

Reason looks to be player trading (or lack thereof). Summer 2010 is the first in a while where we didn't sell a star for good money.

Yep, added to the fact the have plenty of commercial deals with major companies neatly done.
