That being said, we're in a position that few other clubs are without spending much money, surely using the money from the Fabregas transfers would catapult us to the top? I thought that was the plan when we moved stadiums.

Anyway, it's been a pretty miserable season all around, only City and Spurs fan can take any heart from how their team is performing.
Point is we've had teams in the not so distant past that would be right up there with the like of City and United. And teams a little further back that would eat them for breakfast.
True, but I don't see the point of looking at the league like that. The playing field is different every season, if every club ahead of us has become weaker then it may be a trend? It's certainly not deliberate. It's not like in 2003 when United won the league despite being inferior.
