If their intrinsic qualities were so overpoweringly awesome they would use it to succeed in their home countries and not leave and put up with the "immigrant" nonsense in a foreign land. My people are Jamaican, but I was born in NYC and spent the majority of my childhood in the tough streets of suburban Connecticut, and went to some crappy schools like UCLA and Northwestern. That environment is way more important than their background. I've had it hard man, use my success as an example to beat someone else over the head with.
When you cite the immigrant example you must be talking exclusively about America because aren't most if not all the black folks in England (and France) immigrants or descendants of immigrants? What does that do to your theory that there are different qualities in them from similar natives?
And immigrants have been coming to America for over a century and jumping in front of black slaves and their descendants simply because among those with the power (and a lot without) there is a racial hierarchy. They brought the Chinese in to build the railroads because it was better to work with the yellow man on that than get those inferior blacks to do it, "so while the yellow might be inferior to us and we're going to treat them like shit, the black is inferior to them." Recent Indian and Asian immigrants typically come armed with a degree.
Any Obama example that doesn't acknowledge his background is flawed because he was born to two educated people and raised by a PHD mother and a banker grandmother and a ex-military grandfather in HAWAII. That's just the family background. Then you add Punahou, the most elite private school in Hawaii that he went to since fifth grade. From there it was Occidental, Columbia and Harvard law. So while they weren't rich or even upper middle, any failure to look past his father leaving and his mother always being away and not achieving something in life would have been entirely his own doing with the educational opportunities he had. And just to keep it on the Obamas, what about his wife? She of the Princeton/Harvard double-ivy background and descendant of slaves.
And it's funny you bring up names in terms of getting jobs. They have done phone studies where black people have been denied jobs based on being identified as black over the phone or having one of those "uniquely" African-American names. And when I say being identified as black over the phone I'm not talking about ghetto slang either. Obama speaks proper English, but you know he's black the minute you hear him speak.
You can be successful in your professional life and still see the disgusting racism that's out there and experience it daily. Until you've actually lived over here and had some uneducated pig pull you over simply because your car is too nice for your complexion, I'd lay off those generalizations because you don't know the environment about which you speak about. DWB is as real as it gets, it's not some concoction of us weak black Americans who want to seek victim status. The biggest whiners about victim-hood in America today aren't black folks it's your Faux News hosts, guests and viewers at home. That's why Herman Cain is all the rage in their circles today, because there goes a black guy who understands that it's really them that are suffering under the boot of that vengeful Obama. The new hot thing is to call the person who points out racism, a racist. It's absurdly brilliant.
But I love this country and all its hilarious flaws, because if you can't laugh at it you'll go crazy.
