It's not an easy one to call.
I tend to believe that Cesc will not move this summer unless he's told catergorically that he is not wanted by Barca and doesn't feature in their future plans.
I would think the only way that's going to happen is if Barca really need to make up for the Neymar sized negative in their transfer dealings
Would he go to United if Barca make it clear they want to ditch him?
Possibly, I definitely don't believe that some overwhelming love of Arsenal or debt of gratitude to Arsene would prevent him from heading to Manchester if the deal is better there.
I think it would be a massive shame if we were to allow that to happen though, we should match or better whatever they offer.
Agree with every bit of that except one. If he's available I think we should offer him a wage deal that's beyond "good" (let's say £200k/w, or something over £160k/w plus a signing on fee) and then let him make his own mind up.
No sense in entering an arbitrary bidding war with United, especially with Moyes' reputation vulnerable and on the line. They'll just up it until they have us beat, so we have to rely on Fabregas's money motive having a diminishing marginal improvement.
I still think he won't leave Barcelona, the only thing keeping this alive in my mind this window is the turmoil caused by Vilanova's illness, which means there will be fresh views flying around over there on what they need to do about him.
