Some accounts on twitter reckon Barca are saying Cesc isn't for sale because he's already agreed to come back here and that Mertesacker has switched numbers.

If the agreement was clear enough for people to go around changing their numbers, we would have known about it already. United wouldn't be bothering either.

A lot of people on twitter post rubbish based on logical speculation and not on real information. What is sad is that lots of "journalists" for the rags do the very same thing.

if arsenal truly has first option on him and he honestly only wants to come back to england if it's with arsenal (or if arsenal don't want him), what is the point of another team bidding on him? why is man u so public if we can simply just activate our option if barca wants to move him. obviously cesc would have to agree to a move either way, but i don't get it at all. unless his people are telling manyoo that he will reject a move to arsenal so their first option is irrelevant.

Or they want the bid accepted and are hoping that once that is the case, they can convince Fabregas to choose them over us by offering him more money and obviously better opportunity to win trophies.

But, the existence of the clause will affect Barca's interest in selling him.

Surprised anyone really believes Cesc will join United. Maybe I'll end up looking silly, but if he leaves Barcelona I don't see a shred of a chance he goes anywhere but here.

Why did we fight so hard to put the buy back clause in there if we're not gonna use it? Maybe his agent (is it still Darren Dein?) is inviting United to bid high enough so they would accept it and our clause gets activated?

My assessment is that Manchester United are just fucking up. The first of a series of fuck ups that will bring them down from the perch they are stationed at. I don't see them suddenly turn bad, but, Moyes won't be nearly as good at team-building as Fergie was.

He loves Wenger and, to a lesser degree, he loves Arsenal. Although they are one and the same right now and may remain that way even after Wenger's finished his work here.

He won't go to United. Not in a month of Sundays. I couldn't be any more confident about that.

Every Spanish source I've seen or heard from, including the Barca chairman, Tito Villanova, a bunch of journalists and even Cesc himself have said he's not going anywhere. Wenger has also said the same.

But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

If I were in cesc's shoes, it'd feel dirty going to united. He'd be upsetting loads of fans who he's led to believe that he loves Arsenal, he'd be kicking wenger in the teeth, he'd be going to a team which doesn't exactly play the type of football he likes and is best suited to, plus he'd be admitting defeat by leaving barca; acknowledging he failed to achieve what he should have there.
