Yeah Barca fans HATE him and he believes he's unfairly targetted by the press. The guy doesn't feel loved or appreciated. I sort of dismissed this rumour when I 1st heard it few weeks ago, but with his family ties in London and his relationship with us(Wenger), he could well be open for a return if he's not assured of a 1st team place(highly unlikely) at Barca. You just never know....

I haven't a clue what Cesc wants, just not buying into the soap opera reasons for The Return.
He loves the club about as much as Van Persie loved it I reckon.

I honestly think Rooney or Higuain coming to Arsenal is a more likely transfer than Cesc. People need to understand that players are out of favour all the time. Ivanovic did not appear for Chelsea for like 8 months. Ramsey was irritating fans for months.

The big number: 33. Xavi's age. The man needs to be replaced. And you're not going to find a better replacement than Cesc.

Cesc is in no way a like for like Xavi replacement. They're very different players. Like saying Oezil can replace Xabi Alonso for Madrid.

But I think you're wrong.

Top footballers are ever hungry, ever competitive. Regardless of how much they are enjoying their football and fame, they are unfulfilled if they have nothing to show for their hunger and competitiveness. That's why our best players leave. We can't offer them that. Cesc was frustrated and miserable in his last few seasons here for that reason, anyone could see that.

They want, or perhaps more appropriately, they NEED to truly challenge, to truly compete for trophies.

IMO, you can't underestimate that.

Barca fans have always bee ambivalent over Cesc. Love that he went back for them, hated that he left in the first place

if we sign higuain or jovetic first, this fabregas thing isn't completely farfetched.

i agree Kami, we need to signal intent to Fabregas. if he returned in the absence of a Higuain, he'd just be coming back to the same middling nonsense he was desperate to get away from. with a more clinical striker in place and all the other good additions Wenger has made in the last two years (Mert, Arteta, Cazorla, etc.), he'd be more comfortable.
