The player Cesc is now is a world away from the player he was 2005-2008. Ironically the Cesc of old would have been a perfect fit for Barcelona and would have been a seamless replacement for Xavi. There'd have been zero compliants from Barcelona fans if he was playing deeper and getting on the ball more, dictating games like he used to, I guarantee it. Unfortunately that job is monopolised by Xavi with Iniesta and Busquets supplementing. These Barca fans have probably never seen that side of Cesc's game.
This whole striker or 'false 9' role Fabregas plays now doesn't really showcase his best talents and I've never really been a fan of it. Sure he can do a very good job of it because he's a very gifted player but he's no Messi and unfortunately that's exactly who he's expected to replicate because his minutes on the pitch lately have come in place of the injured Messi.
