Well, anyway, if I actually were, I'd hope the mods-that-be here wouldn't ban me for it. Statistically speaking, someone you chat to on this board is probably a sodomite. I'm against sexual prejudice and homophobia.

But, all that said, I just thought Song was a good player, underrated by many, and it helps when we have one or two who show up with a first team quality performance week in week out, and rarely get injured.

Forget Alex Song, the guy we need to rescue is Fabregas. As I predicted, he's gone far too early. He destroys the chemistry that Biscuits, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi have. He plays where the last 3 would prefer to play. He's been a phenomenal player for them since going, but I'd be surprised to see him start the big games going forward this season unless one of Xavi and Ineista is injured. We know Messi doesn't get injured

You sure? Could always play Arteta, Song, Wilshere and drop Podolski for Cazorla depending on form and contribution. With a new top notch striker, Walcott on the right and Giroud coming off the bench it'd work well.

UNfortunately I think he, or someone of his ilk, is exactly what we need. We're missing someone to tie the team together into one functional attack instead of looking like a bunch of clueless strangers with no direction. I know you didn't like the style of play but I think that had more to do with those around him. I think our more direct approach and direct players of late would suit him even more.

Fabregas himself might not be the answer, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about football these days to know who is available and who could do it. Say what you like about Fabregas, there aren't many better than him in the world and we know he works here.

we need a playmaker. i'm not quite sure what Wilshere is, but he's not a playmaker. we had superior playmakers in Bergkamp and Fabregas. Wilshere just doesn't get enough incisive passes through to his forwards. he's an excellent passer, but he still has time before he can be compared to the Xavis, Fabregases, Pirlos etc of this world.

We need someone to feed Walcott and Podolski. Get that guy in, and then go look for a proper DM. Wilshere can be our third midfielder or can try his hand in the Walcott role.

It was discussed not so long ago, but yeah, I'd have Cesc back in a nanosecond.

Walcott would have scored at least three against Spurs' high line with Cesc in there. Not sure he can help Giroud though...
I know some haven't forgiven him, but his quality is undeniable.
I would be more concerned of him coming here as the saviour and the hype that would come with it - he definitely had some prima donna tendencies and I think the whole circus could be a problem. Still, we'd be a better team that's for sure.

In a funny way you're right, Wengers whole thinking and thrust post 2006 has been to build a team playing a possession based style around him, you can see from our adventures over the last few years that even though Fabregas is gone he has never really given up on this dream.
Instead of using his departure as an opportunity to radically change the way we play we've sort of stumbled on with very inadequate replacements (including Song) and looked like a Frankensteins monster- sometimes a horrible mix of everything.
As you know I was never a great fan of the Fabregas style in the first place and advocated a complete change of philosophy about how we should approach games.
Getting Fabregas back would improve the team but it would be akin to resuscitating a heart attack victim who had terminal cancer.
