Ha! It is, date of the article: 11:33am Monday 6th June 2011

Bale?
Can't really think of any player in the world like Gervinho who takes on his marker every single time that is available.
Ribery isnt, Robben isnt, Reus isnt, maybe Callejon, Pedro, Di Maria, Tello?

My bad. Picked it up from a blog http://gunnersphere.com/2013/06/view-from-the-sphere/newcastle-close-in-on-out-of-favour-gunner?
Wankers will do anything to get hits.
No thanks.
Walcott and £20m for Cavani.
Bet they haven't even considered Walcott

Wanyama became "evasive" when asked about Arsenal on Kenyan TV...
Admittedly that does add up to much, it's a bit quiet on the rumour front these days apart from the Higuain Jovetic business.
I think Grenier's dad said he was going to stay in Lyon but I've not checked for the actual quote.

Wanyama would be fucking awesome... I would be ecstatic if we signed him.
Don't think we've genuinely been linked though
I read that this morning in the paper. I'm not sure he was asked about Arsenal, the paper read like it was more a transfer in general.
One of my neighbours is a regular at Celtic Park and isn't overly impressed with him. He seems to turn it on against the bigger teams but can go just as much the other way too apparently and have dire games which aren't picked up on. He'd be happy to make a bit of money and have him moved on.
I'd be pretty happy if we got Wanyama too. How much are the papers saying he'd cost?
It's the right time to get him too, he's only 21 so Wenger could still add things to his game.

#wanayama Agent: "Van Persie went to #Arsenal then moved on later to Man U. Victor can do the same if he goes to Arsenal.." #FFS
No thanks. This little no name Song wannabe cunt can fuck off.
Was a youth coach of Wanyama's, no? What has a person like that to do with whatever the player thinks/is like?
The dude is bang average anyway, do not want.
Say that then, instead of saying that you don't want him for something a coach of his he hasn't had for years have said.
Interested to hear Tam's views on Wanyama. Looked good the handful of times I'd seen him this year, but that could easily have been the 'highlights'. Still young though...

I'll say whatever I like thanks Mum! I've no doubt he does think this way, typical thinking of your usual young footballer. I'll tolerate for special talents, but bang average Song types, not worth the hassle.
I've not seen him enough, looked ok when I did see him. Problem with these tough tackling energetic midfielders is that they have the ability to look impressive when they're not. I can't help but get the feeling he's another Tiote or Lorik Cana (remember him?) that a load of Arsenal fans are desperate for us to sign that turn out to be crap nobodies.
I'd be wary of signing anyone who doesn't look phenomenal and the best player on the pitch every week, playing in a pub league.
Don't want Wanyama. Not liked what I've seen at all.

He's probably the best player in that league. And he's 21. Thats a pretty good sign. And he was great in the Champions League last season.

I can't say I've seen a lot of Celtic, but firstly I'd be wary of signing anyone from Scotland. The best you'd be looking at doing from a signing from the SPL is a project player who may have the basics you can bring on. There is noone playing here, Wanyama included, that would go into our team or squad and do what we'd be looking for on a consistent basis.
The Champions League games have shown what his game is like and that there's a certain level Wanyama might hit, but I doubt that's a level he could maintain or build upon to any great degree. I'd expect more from his league appearances than he's shown to back up his CL games and show there's a bit more to him.
Scottish football in general has a number of brilliant individual and team displays in Europe and at international level over the years but you still wouldn't take the stars of those games. My opinion is that Wanyama's CL games this year are the same, a player stepping up on a big occasion. At the moment certainly anyway. Whether he goes on to develop over the next few years remains to be seen but I doubt it. He's certainly not good enough for what we need at the moment.

Just a reminder, from the first book of Pepe.

First off, 'One more in the Tolly' refers to the Tollington Arms, a Gooner pub in Holloway that we like. The forum was started at the end of September 2010 as a place for Gooners to come to talk Arsenal, to be a quiet repose, a tranquil island in the choppy, WUM infested waters of the internet. If you're not interested in point scoring and are just happy to get along, then this may be the place for you!A few words of warning however: OMT isn’t a democracy, and nobody has a god-given right to be here. Personally speaking, I have no capacity for drama, and an extremely low tolerance for internet rebels and pests. So if you have a beef with someone, stow it. Or find another forum.
Nor is this the place for dick swinging. We don’t do ‘I told you so’s here - If you still derive your ego from proving how superior your football knowledge is to everyone else, then this /isn’t/ the place for you.

sounds like a 21 year old footballer playing in a shit league and needing more of a challenge. the fact that he can rise to the occasion is a positive.
Sounds like a player who's not as good or as proven as Alex Song.
Sounds like a player that we would never be interested in.
True dat.
He looked pretty average against Juve, one good game against Barca doesn't mean anything. If we want to move up from competing with Spurs then we need to look for better players.
I like what I've seen of him, but I doubt we'll sign anyone we've been linked with so far this summer
I like Wanyama. Good ball retention under pressure. Plus he seems someone who has a massive room for improvement.
We should go all out to woo Lewandowski IMO. If he signs outside of bayern, it should be us.
Based on last season apparently :hmm:
Have The Guardian even ran an Arsenal transfer story yet?

We also need to check what the stats are when it comes to the big teams. I bet, those ratios get inflated by the news they put up about player transfers involving the smaller clubs where they don't muck about.
But, when it comes to the bigger clubs which attract more eyeballs, most of the papers would put anything and everything that is remotely possible.
The mirror had 7571 rumours in a single year
It's an instance though, so the same rumour can count multiple times.
There is no way the Guardian is right 1 in 3 times.
