Arsenal have been offered a cut-price move for Lyon star Yoann Gourcuff, according to reports.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is known to be a long-term admirer of midfielder Gourcuff, but refused to beat the £20million Lyon paid Bordeaux for his services in 2009.

However, Gourcuff’s career has since gone off the rails, with the 28-year-old struggling with injuries and off the field problems, and he is now looking to rejuvenate his career with a move out of France.

According to Life Sports, Lyon have made the playmaker available for a bargain £3million – but interested clubs will have to take on his whopping £4million-a-year salary.

The news has not put off Arsenal or Spartak Moscow though, with the duo both said to be considering making a move for the player in the closing stages of the transfer window.

Gourcuff, who is yet to play for Lyon this season due to a series of injury setbacks, is hopeful of returning to full training in the next few days, in a bid to build up his fitness ahead of a transfer.

The Sanderson

only 26? we've been buying this guy since the late 90s. don't want

Nobody wants him at the moment. The question is: how much potential does he still have, and would he have a realistic chance of realising it at Arsenal?

Given our current situation and the fact we're stocked up on crocks like Diaby and Rosicky already it wouldn't be the smartest signing in the world. But I'd still take him on the cheap.

Don't want, never wanted. Even at his peak, could not see what others saw in him!

No more L1 deadbeats. Did I say that already?

Gourcuff is evidently psychologically frail, let's not go there. Hell if we need a dead ball specialist I'd rather have Aliadiere ...

He has had 1 very good season at Bordeaux, and another where he was decent. The rest of his career has been pretty much awful in France. He's a big joke at OL.

L'equipe stating we've been offered a loan

Wouldn't complain about a loan deal, better to have him than nobody, which is looking likely...

If Gourcuff pitches up, I'll break something.

At his peak I saw him in the flesh for france. He was awful nice first touch, nothing else.

Everytime I've seen the guy he seems to shoot non stop. And miss.
