Saw The Woman in Black tonight. Really didn't expect to enjoy it quite so much. Genuinely frightened me at times too. Definitely one of my favourite horror-thrillers of recent times anyway.

You'd think so, but Frankenfish it ain't. I think they tried too hard to be funny. Hate tongue-in-cheek feeling in those kind of films. It borders on parody.

saw a couple movies this weekend..

In Time. was OK. not the worst movie in the world, but certainly not the best.. 5.5/10

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. this movie was unreal. it got to me in a way I cannot explain. maybe because it had to do with the 9/11 aftermath and what happened to people's psyche afterward (keep in mind i was only 40 miles from NY when it happened), but i thought this was one of the best this year. I am really surprised it isnt nominated for more. 9/10 for me

Had a schlock session yesterday and watched the 2011 remake of Fright Night and a film starring Jim Caviezel called Outlander which is basically Beowulf vs Predator.

Both were pretty good, say 7.5/10

I coordinate a film and new media symposium every year at an American university. This year bringing Apichatpong Weerasethakul as one of the participants. Great Thai filmmaker. Should check out Tropical Malady and Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. We're showing Syndromes and a Century.

Have only read reviews that slate this movie, apart from it being shot rather well. Although we're not heartless bastards, perhaps it just doesn't have the same effect for us Brits. Can't say it looks appealing to me. The kid actor looks incredibly annoying.

I liked the Fright Night remake too. Christopher Mintz-Plasse was great as always. Too bad his role got a bit marginalised compared to the original film.

Meh. He was ok. David Tennant managing to play Russell Brand without pissing me off was the greater achievement. Didn't mind Farrell either.

saw a few good ones recently; Drive, Cell 211, Mulholland Drive.

Saw In Time too, interesting storyline and concept but Timberlake should not act, he is hopeless.

What's Cell 211 like IBL? I missed that at last year's art house film season here, but it looked ok.

I found it surprisingly good. Well acted, decent script and has plenty in the story to keep you gripped.

It is a Spanish movie so you have subtitles but dont let that put you off.
