The critics seemingly all love Dunkirk, which is exactly what I mean when I say Nolan is the Radiohead of filmmakers. If you don't like his work much, then it can be a bit hard constantly having to squeeze through the hordes of solemn worshippers. 😃
Todd Solondz's latest film, Wiener-Dog, is insightful with a sharp screenplay. Bleak, but less bleak than Solondz's other works I've seen, somehow almost redemptive with a trajectory encompassing all of human life from childhood to mortality. Lots and lots of dramatic beats and wry observations in ninety minutes. As good as the best short fiction.
