Yeah, I saw it a few months ago. It's an incredible film. It's slow even by Hou's standards though. It's definitely not something you'd wanna watch on a night when you're not really up for it.

Love old school Kung Fu flicks and this one is rated quite highly. I'll watch it when I'm in the mood then I guess.

Just don't expect a Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It's not a martial arts flick. The trailer made it look like one but it's a gross misrepresentation. It mostly consists of a lot of poetic scenery anchored in slow-moving shots. There's little dialogue or emotional expression.

I'd suggest you check out SPL instead if you want a quality martial arts flick with modern kung fu. I think it might have been renamed Killzone in the US. The action is top notch, with the penultimate fight between Donnie Yen and Jacky Wu (armed with a steel baton and a butcher's knife, respectively) being the cherry on top.

This one from SPL, along with the end battle against Sammo Hung, was really memorable too:

Jing Wu has some mad skills. It's weird how his career as a leading man never really took off, but there's still time I guess. I watched him in that weird SPL sequel (which isn't really a sequel at all; it's a completely different story where some of the actors from the first film are playing completely different characters) that came out last year where he's starring next to Tony Jaa. He was excellent in it.

Came out of Victoria about an hour ago. Still processing it, but I found it anything but off putting. Anchored by a great performance by Laia Costa as the titular Victoria, I was utterly immersed in it. The dialogue comes off naturalistic without being annoying. Good move to make Victoria Spanish too as some of her choices seem more believable than if she was, say... English for example.

Not a nailed on classic, but a very good, 8/10 film for me. Think it will stay with me for a while.

Civil War is probably the best Marvel movie, much better than the last Avengers one. Loved Spider-Man.

the home stretch of civil war was great fun, but the first half dragged badly. winter soldier is still the pick of the bunch for me

Was at a preview of Jeremy Saulnier's new film, Green Room today. A proper thriller, something about this guy's style reminds me of John Carpenter. The film was a funny, gory, thrill ride. I think it miiiiight be my favourite film of the year so far.

Civil War was plenty better than Winter Soldier. Possibly the best film in the MCU.

Watched Jobs over the weekend and thought it was ok. Not being an Apple fanboy I didn't know much about the history so was surprised at how much of a cunt he was portrayed to be. Didn't realise he denied his daughter was his for so long for instance. I also suspect the portrayal of Wozniak is a bit unfair as he's portrayed as not really sharing any of the vision and having little input in product ideas etc. Haven't seen the Fassbender version.
