Thanks quince. Will check. Wasn't too keen on it due to mixed reviews.

If anyone is ok with checking out foreign language movies, Shahid is a brilliant indian movie (calm down, no bullshit song and dance and melodrama). It's on netflix. True story of a guy.

Appearantly this tor.. video disc is 20 minutes shorter than the theatre release, some say this is just due to the break between the two acts, other say it's a different version. Very few cinemas showed the 70mm version, which is the longest. The one I watched (cinema) was no longer than the one on the video disc. Not sure if the whole 20 minutes are the break or if some of it is extended footage, but I don't think they planed to release the longest version anyway.

Watched The Lady in the Van on the weekend. Very enjoyable little film. Alex Jennings was great as Alan Bennett and Maggie Smith of course is wonderful. A twitch of a cheek can tell a thousand words. Or at least a dozen.

Top 3: The Big Lebowski, Miller's Crossing, No Country For Old Men

Worst: The Ladykillers

Love the Coen brothers. Haven't seen their two newest films though.

Best in order: Big Lebowski, Fargo, No Country for Old Men, The Man Who Wasn't There, Barton Fink, Blood Simple, Miller's Crossing, A Serious Man.

Worst: Ladykillers, O Brother Where Are Thou (I'm probably in the minority here), Arizona Junior, Intolerable Cruelty, Burn After Reading.

Worst- I'd have to say Barton Fink because Jo made me turn it off after about 40 minutes.

I was re-watching Barton Fink and O Brother over the weekend, and loved them both but I don't think they would even break my top five. Goes to show how many great movies they have made. And some of very questionable quality aswell. Makes for fun discussion for sure.

Seems to be no middle ground with that movie. Some love it, others think it's terrible.

Just watched The Silence of the Lambs for the first time. Good movie that I assume hundreds of later thrillers have tried taking notes from, if not successfully. Are the sequels worth watching?

They're not as good. Red Dragon is passable, Hannibal is very cheesy, and the original Manhunter is worth a look for a version of Richard Harris prior to Anthony Hopkins.

I do recommend the TV show, the first two seasons are extremely good, some of the best stuff produced in the past few years. The third season let me down a bit.

It's genuinely tough for me to watch more than a couple of episodes of Hannibal in a row, it's so bleak and depressing in everything from the score to the color scheme. It's excellent, but I understand why some people are put off by it.
