Look, I genuinely liked Inglourious Basterds and Django was interesting. I think Reservoir Dogs is a work of some genius.
Maybe I just got up on the wrong side of bed this morning, but The Hateful Eight struck me as Tarantino playing all his old songs badly and out of tune at once. Above all else, it just isn't cool—there's barely a single attractive or stylish moment in the whole film. If it's a western, then by God it's one of the worst westerns I've ever seen. If it's an affectless Brecht-via-Godard style Lehrstücke, it has nothing of interest to impart.
