Watched the new 'Ronaldo' movie. He is a massive bellend, it must be said. The whole movie was about his "quest" to be the "best in the world" and win Ballon d'Or. No mention of his managers, teammates, titles or cups. Jorge Mendes comes off as an even bigger tool. Awful.

got halfway through it and gave up. it was just boring.

Think Gurgen has a point, but for me I think it is more a wider 'issue'; when you have a passion, something you are completely dedicated to, then it is quite likely that other areas get neglected. Footballers, live, breathe and organize their lives around football, and I bet a lot of them get a pretty narrow view of the world because of it. The same goes for any athlete, really. Doesn't have to be sports either IMO; people who are completely captivated by one thing are often quite boring to be around from my experience, because they don't have very much to say on issues outside their spheres of interest.

I'm not sure, I think plenty of footballers would have interesting stories, particularly from their childhood etc. The Sanchez documentary was interesting for example, Dennis Bergkamp's book was also a really good read.

Ronaldo is different. I've not watched the film but there's literally nothing about him that intrigues me. The fact that they tried to make something of his supposed loneliness tells you how little they must have got from spending a year with him.

Bergkamps book was great but he's a bit of an exception and TBH I think his generation and the current generation are quite a bit different. And TBH I found the childhood bits of Bergkamps book the dullest. Its like every footballers story of being a kid "I played a lot of football, trying to do this and that". Most footballers book now descend into behind the scenes gossip because the stories are just so dull.

Still there are some characters left. I mean I'd much rather watch a film about Ibra than Messi or Ronaldo.

They're more professional because they get paid more.

But unless you meet them you can't really say. You only see the PR media side on TV. And I reckon people only think about the top of the top as opposed to the regular professional.

Lawyers for example are "educated" but would be no more interesting to talk to once you get out of the niceties, especially when they're amongst each other. I know because I hang out with them on occasions.

I'm sure a lot of footballers are quite interesting people. But Ronaldo is a narcissist, and narcissists are not very interesting.

That is actually pretty amazing. I know that the chem industry has known about diphenolic acid and its capacity to replace bisphenol in resins for a long time, but it's always been too expensive to produce. The thought of biodegradable plasticizers on a large scale is pretty intriguing.
