Got to admit that at the cinema I really do not like sitting beside people who are horsing into big troughs of popcorn.

The cinema does not sound like a place for you 😆 Quite a few popcorn eaters there. Personally what bothers me the most is people clapping when something cool happens during the movie or those 13-year-olds who don't even bother whispering when talking to each other.

18+ only theatres with VIP sections are the best. No kids and extra comfy seats.

I love the cinema, usually avoid all the giant popcorn freaks by going on Sunday night or sometimes waiting to see films that are screened in a refurbished old church.

I'm not a big fan of the cinema. The general public seem to have problems with sitting quietly.

Lived in Drammen, no VIP section there. Moved to Bergen recently, haven't seen it here either. At least not when you order online.

I'm always surprised when I do go to a popular film (eg Kingsman like the other night) by how shit the trailers are beforehand.

I usually go a couple of weeks into the run so that the cinema isn't packed with mouth-breathers.

Did they show the trailer for Russell Crowe's new film, "The Water Diviner"? I literally laughed out loud when they said the title. It felt like one of those prank trailers from Tropic Thunder. Crowe went full retard for this one.

No. I can barely even remember what they showed.

The Water Diviner is one I've studiously avoided. I haven't seen the trailer, and don't know the plot. "Russell Crowe going for an Oscar" was enough to rule it out for me.

I'm surprised how precious you guys are. I don't even notice the popcorn eaters or background noise. It's not like the movie is on low volume anyway. It's a cinema - there's never been a time where I haven't associated popcorn/snacks with the pictures. It's standard, like singing and standing at the footy.

I don't feel that watching a film at home is anything like watching a film at the cinema.
The cinema is vast and dark and the setting lends itself to 100% focus on the screen, sounds are magnified in that type of situation.
I once sat next to a guy whose bucket of popcorn was so big that when he rested it on the arm rest it was spilling over onto my side.
The popcorn was piled so high that he couldn't see over it until he'd been eating through it for about five minutes.
I'm not good with being that close to strangers and having the sound of them munching food in my ear 🙂

Yeah of course. The thing is I choose who comes into my house and they are civilised people who wouldn't munch and play with their phones and chat during a film.

Meh. I'm personally not bothered. Plus a lot of the time I never sit directly next to someone I don't know unless it's really busy. And even then I don't really care.

Having said that I never buy popcorn at the cinema because it's a rip off! I take in some maltesers or such like and a bottle of water and that's me.

Chatting and playing with phone is a no no of course.

Being disturbed by eating is weird though. I've always associated cinema with food because I've never been to a cinema, even independent ones, without food stands and counters.
