everyone's entitled to their opinion, but i hated gollum (cgi was terrible, voice was annoying, character was annoying), hated frodo, the endless wandering, the neverending sequences of the most epic battle of all time (until the next most epic battle)... i think peter jackson is extraordinarily overrated. he was a nobody before LoTR (doing slasher movies, i think), and imo, he pretty much owes his career to the geological forces that created new zealand.
i also think george lucas is incredibly overrated. he owes his career to harrison ford. besides THX181 (forget the exact title, the one with robert duvall), all of his films without ford suck. and he didnt direct his best film (empire strikes back).
