Watched Life of Pi yesterday, meh. Was great to look at (the Tiger is probably the best CGI I've ever seen), but I can't stand films in 3D. Makes the whole experience too uncomfortable. Wasn't really sold on the story either, it's interesting but you need to be slightly religious or agnostic to care about all the questions the Narrator is asking. Reckon some people will love it though.

finally say Dark Knight Rises last night.. was I the only one who really didnt think it was anywhere near as good as the other 2 in this series? easily 2+ points lower than the other ones IMO

Saw ET with the kids last night. Haven't seen it in. decade+. Still love it. 🙂
Me and the missus also enjoyed Remember the Titans a few nights ago. Liked it a lot and would certainly recommend it to those who haven't seen it yet.

i watched Lincoln today.. historically accurate or not (not saying its really either way), the movie was B.O.R.I.N.G... the last 40 minutes or so were OK, but the first hour and a half failed to hold my interest in the least. i was seriously disappointed.. DDL certainly played the part well, but it was just boring in general.. had really high hopes.. oh well..

The Hobbit: An Unedited Journey was fucking long. Handful of really really good bits, like the Gollum sequence, but it's not good for a light action fantasy if you're checking your watch after 45 minutes ...

That aspect of it was really shallow. Works better as a 'slice-of-life' movie except with a shipwreck, a tiger and insurance claims assessors.

Do you need to see the prequels to MI3 and Ghost Protocol before watching the latter.

One and two are pretty self contained and four has very small references to three.

I'd have to agree. Its good for 10 minutes then boring for 20 then another good 10 minutes. Needed serious editing. JGL is completely pointless in it too. Could have just left him out of it.

agreed... his story line was so pointless and so non-explored.. seem too contrived.. i think they just wanted to throw him in the movie (and i like JGL, think he's turned into a great actor, but he didnt belong in this movie in that role)

oh, and i know you guys might think we're crazy, but we've been watching the Harry Potter movies.. we watched the first one a long time ago, and it didnt do anything for us, so we didnt bother watching any more of them.. but since the wife has gotten a bit more into the fantasy stories (thanks to Once Upon a Time), we gave it another shot.. and we've actually fairly enjoyed them (seen the first 3 now)

and no, we didnt read the books

I quite like the Harry Potter movies. The books are better of course, but seeing them after the books was quite nice.

Thought JGL was quite effective in a small supporting role...He has a physical resemblance to Heath Ledger, a skinnier version, and DDL makes the film...
Sometimes I'll check my watch to see how much longer to go...Not this film...Thoroughly engrossing...
