Only just saw the new Spiderman. Can't make up mind about it- has some really good stuff with some real grating shit.

Not exactly current affairs this, but saw Martha Marcy May Marlene last night. Aside from the observation that Elizabeth Olsen is a bit of a hottie, I thought it was excellent although the ending was somewhat abrupt. Anyone else seen it?

Yes, seen it at home, quite liked it. It's a creepy film. John Hawkes has been great in the last things I've seen him in. I suspect it's quite a true to life depiction of the process of cult escape.

It was a bit of a stunt ending, and felt a little unnecessary to the main thrust of the film to be honest.

Chris Marker just died, bit of a shame.

Once Upon a Time in Anatolia.

Easily one of the best things I've seen this year … 9/10. Highly, highly recommend it.

The trailer will give you an idea of what it looks like, but ignore any concept of the purpose or plot of the film that it suggests, as it's not a thriller in the slightest.

Yeah, heard Mark Kermode reviewing this a few weeks back. He loved it, so I've been meaning to try and catch it. From what I remember of the review, it sounded right up my street.

Yep, it's a beautiful, leisurely, poignant and tremendously classy film that isn't massively up its own arse. Really loved it.

Finally got to see TDKR yesterday, thought it was great. I don't really get people complaining about certain parts being far fetched, its a super hero movie.

I had a ton of criticisms, but then I remembered that it was a fucking Batman film!

By which I mean to say, the war is won, superhero films are now The Establishment, comic nerds rule in Hollywood and so on and so forth.

It was a pretty entertaining film for what it was.

Just so long as no one starts shooting their mouth off at Oscar time about how Tom Hardy should've scored a Best Supporting Actor nod for his 'intense eyeballing', and he'd be a deserved winner if the critical thought police weren't so snobby about superhero flicks, I'm relaxed about the fact that this film exists and people like it. 🙂

Just please give it a decade or two before the next reboot.

I dunno Burnsy, I think Bela Tarr could've made one hell of a batman movie.

I didn't dislike The Dark Knight Rises, but I didn't like it much either. I wasn't fond of The Dark Knight either though. I thought Batman Begins was the best film in the trilogy by far.

I was of the opinion BB was the worst but I haven't seen it in years. Watched TDK and TDKR over the weekend and both are superb. Also been watching some of the animated Batman movies. Really liked Batman Year One, quite noiry and has some great character work. Didn't feel like a full film though, more like a cable pilot or a chapter in book. Quality though.

In hindsight I like Batman Begins a lot, particularly now that you know where everything's heading and the first half of the movie is brilliant, sets every thing up nicely. Definitely the most re-watchable out of the three imo.

TDK doesn't have the same impact second time around and I doubt the TDKR will either.

All brilliant films and only suffer in comparison to each other.

Couldn't stand Batman Begins when I first saw it. Caught a bit of it on telly the other night and it was much more enjoyable, think I might have to pick up and give it a rewatch.

For me: TDKR > TDK > BB

All exceptional films. Nolan is incredible.

Loved the Prestige too, another great Nolan movie. Though many didn't like it.

I thought most people liked the Prestige, very good film IMO. And like most Nolan films bears repeat viewing.
