at the very least we know we've enquired about him. at this point only villa himself could force the deal through, which is probably why wenger has gone public with the "barca don't want to sell" line. i'd give it a 5% chance at this point.

Why not? He's getting old, but still got more experience and ability than any of the strikers we have on our books presently.

Probably still has 2 to 3 years worth of quality goals left in him. I'd take him without hesitation.

Just dont like the guy, feel his best days are past him and that he'll struggle to stay injury free. Also feel he wont be a good fit for the prem.

who was the last spanish import that was a total flop here? only reyes comes to mind, all the others have ranged from good to great.

Not at all, I think it'd be an interesting experiment, I just doubt he's going to be what we need and think we should be using our money on someone younger with more to prove.

Villa before the leg break was a better player than any forward currently playing in Premier League. The problem is that he's 31 and is recovering from a leg break.

If you are talking about PL, Arbeloa was pretty bad, Morientes was worse. I haven't even talk about Riera.... there are plenty of spanish imports that failed in the PL.

If you are talking about Arsenal, we haven't even bought many spanish. Reyes was definitely not a flop

we can only get players of villas reputation under these kinds risky conditions. reminds me of overmars and the question marks over his dodgy knees in 98. sometimes you just have to take the plunge. from what ive gleaned in a few bartha forums, their fans really dont want to lose him and would rather have him in their starting 11 ahead of alexis.

he is class. quick, fantastic finisher, but also a really skillful and smart player. great awareness. would be a great option both up front and on the left side.

You must be mistaking him for someone else, he was quality for them, a proper defender. I always thought of him as a more versatile Sagna, albeit less athletic.
