Seriously though, I think we're capable of doing them, but we're gonna need a fair bit of luck and we'll have to give our two best performances of the season. I don't think Bayern are over or under rated; they are a very good team, but not one to shit yourself over. They have one or two weaknesses we can exploit.

Alf you need to take a look at Bayern's record this season as compared to every other league leader in the world. 7 goals conceded is really something else.

I am actually surprised they ditch Hecknyes for Pep because the latter will find it hard to better this record.

They aren't ditching anyone, he's retiring.

Tbf, anyone that's seriously and completely writing off our chances in a cup knock out game should just get that tag now.

I would still back them to beat us 7/10 games, but those aren't actually bad odds. Simply put, we're not favourites but we have a fighting chance.

Of course, it's football anything could happen.......
But if Bayern don't knock us out someone else will- In fact it would be just like us to overcome them and then go out meekly in the next round.

Yes the over all likelihood is that we will at some point get knocked out. Same as every other team in it bar 1.

two-legged cup ties have a totally different psychology because of the away goals rule. if the team is not experienced and isn't comfortable in its ability to defend, attack and switch between the two depending on the situation, then it's not likely to get lucky. if there's one thing i know about recent arsenal teams, it's that we're least comfortable when having to defend a lead.

we obviously have more than a chance against bayern - i just wouldn't back us against any good side due to our tactical/psychological weaknesses. though we played smart againat barca that one year.

Wenger's been setting up quite defensively in Europe for decades now. If we don't set up to defend very carefully at home - just like that Barcelona tie - we're mad.

Right, we won't be winning the CL while Wenger is manager so it doesn't matter if we knock out Bayern or not.

Oh we'll set up to defend alright. But left back is a worry. Santos needs games that we can't afford to give and Vermaelen...Vermaelen might work, actually. He had one game at left back this season that i liked. But he's definitely a risk.
