Still don't buy that story. Moyes has surely been too long in the game for this to be true.

So do you guys think the Mata signing will give them a similar impact to how we signed Ozil?

I actually see Man Utd going on an annoying unbeaten run.

Hopefully not because we play them soon.

Could have a huge impact potentially, all depends on how he fits in. But he's a quality player.

Think Man U's season hinges more on them getting Rooney and RVP back and up to speed. If they have all their attacking players available they will certainly make a real push for top 4.

Agreed on the Rooney and RVP comment there Rexy. Personally, Mata has never been quite my cup of tea and I don't think he'll have a huge impact at Utd.

Still no dates set for either of them to return?

I'm not sure Mata will do much at united either.

He had plenty of opportunities to make it difficult for Mourinho to drop him

The Telegraph says both are returning tomorrow.

He might give them a spark going forward but everything behind him is still going to be rotten. If they could put out a decent midfield of Carrick, Fletcher and Mata until the end of the season they might get a bit of consistency and form. Even at that Carrick and Fletcher have struggled for form and fitness so even having them on the park isn't a given. They don't have much other than those two.

Think he'll be good but won't solve their midfield problems. Any team that doesn't play long ball/lose possession cheaply will still have a good chance vs them.

Yeah, but having world class players up front can mask a lot of problems with the rest of the team.

RvP did it last year, and the year before that he did it for us. Suarez is currently doing it at Liverpool. Even City's class up front is somewhat masking a few problems in defense.

Chelsea and us are the oppositie. We're solid in defence, tactically disciplined, strong in midfield and questionable up front.

I just hope Rvp, Rooney and Mata don't click. All it takes is a couple of wins and their entire narrative and momentum changes....just in time for when we play them.

It's going to take more than a couple of wins for their momentum and narrative to change.
I reckon it's being massively optimistic expecting Rooney and RVP to just bounce back in on top form and click into gear with Mata.
Their confidence as a team has taken a battering under Moyes, they could be a dangerous animal on their day but I don't see them regaining a consistency that will become seriously threatening between now and the end of the season.

Rvp is done. He started looking slow as can be before his injury

They'll definitely finish top 4 if RvP and Rooney are back any time soon.

If they manage to keep those two fit and get Mata playing anywhere near his best then they'll gain ground on us. Definitely won't be enough to catch us but I'd be surprised if the gap is more than 7 or 8 come the end of the season.

The Mata move doesn't really affect us this season. Liverpool are the ones that should be most disappointed that it went through. Suarez is playing like a man possessed, Rodgers has them playing nice football, they had their best start to the season, they were top at Christmas and now it looks like they'll be finishing 5th at best.

Can see RAWK being a lot of fun over the coming months.

They're 14 points behind us and you think that they'll perform better over the course of the next sixteen games than we will?
Why do you have such faith in a United team who have been a pathetic shambles this season and so little faith in us who have been strong, resilient and organised?

I do.

There's no way they won't improve when/if they get Rooney and the cunt playing week in week out, bearing in mind that I did say the only way they'd make ground on us is if those two are back soonish.

Plus they've already played Spurs and Chelsea home and away.

They're obviously still weak at the back but they should start scoring a few more goals with those two back in the team. Signing one of the top AM's in the league will help things too.

Rooney has signed his new mega deal. Lad has been bullying United since 2010.

I wonder if the little boy will try to throw his weight around as well.

He'll be back on the chips after the wc.

He's a genius.

All I see is speculation about Rooney signing a new deal. Are there any real indications at all it is really happening?

Are they actually going to sign Kroos? That's a coup if it happens. Damn.

Puts them right up there next season. All they have to do is pick up a defender or two in the summer. The competition for the league will be ridiculous for the next few years.

Thats a lot of grannies.

So Kroos never joined them yesterday? That's a relief. We need to pick him up in the summer then.

Reckon Bayern will end up coughing up the wages for him.

If i was them i would sell Schweini rather than Kroos. They would still get a lot for him and he's becoming increasingly injury prone. Then give Bastian's money to Toni.

Yea offering him more seems the obvious thing to do. Then again I though barca would have got thiago into the team instead of selling him.
They won't sell sweini he's a huge celebrity over there the gossip mags have stories on him all the time.

I do wonder the reason they won't offer him more, is it just down to them not wanting to pay him or his demands being ridiculously high. I've read there are a few Bayern players on around double his wages and that doesn't sit well with him.

I seriously doubt they will let him go, fantastic player and came through their system IIRC and think all these Man Utd rumours are from his agent to get Bayern to pay what he wants

A midfield trio of Kroos, Ramsey and Özil would be fantastic, but I actually think Kroos is at his best in the number 10 role.

Yeah, maybe. I have a feeling that the only reason Kroos is still there is because the Bayern boardroom want to keep their German backbone. Guardiola doesn't seem to rate him that much and he brought in Alcantara for big money last summer.

Whispers around that Van Persie is set for a "shock return" to us next summer.
How does that grab people?
It is probably a complete fabrication but I found it quite funny.
He has an "uneasy relationship" with Moyes apparently.

he's a dirty, opportunistic rat.
if he'd gone to Barca, Juve, Real, Milan etc., i'd be happy to take him back. as we have done with Flamini and Henry. but what he did is unforgivable

reckon he's old and busted now. we can find a better striker imo.

oh yeah, and he's a giant cunt.

It's nonsense, but rumours like that make me smile. Nobody deserves United's downfall as much as he does. And the little boy inside him.

Even looking at it objectively, he's on what? 200k a week and would cost in excess of 20m for a 31yr old on the decline? Would be a good signing for someone with unlimited funds but when we spend we need to make it count for the next few years.

If I thought he'd be the definitive answer to our striker problems I'd sign him back, no emotion just business, in his prime he's as good as any of the names that people are crying for.
His ship's probably sailed though, at 31 he'll be on the decline, so on that level he wouldn't be worth the inevitable outrage resigning would cause.

Yep. Can't afford to take that chance on someone who's 31, terribly injury prone and has had two good seasons in his career. No one wants him here either. Just imagine the reactions if he got injured or failed to perform.
